Mac is a Senior Director with an international firm. Her role requires her to either attend early morning or late night calls a few times a week. Even though she enjoys her job, she is exhausted with those frequent wee hour calls. Also, she feels guilty not being able to spend enough time with her toddler. As a result, she is not as energetic towards new work initiatives as much as she would like to, as she simply cannot find the energy for them.

In a Work Trend Index Survey conducted by an independent research firm, Edelman Data x Intelligence with 31,092 full time employed or self-employed workers across 31 markets in January 2021, 54% feel overworked and 39% feel exhausted, while self-assessed productivity remained the same or higher for many employees, but at a human cost. High productivity is masking an exhausted workforce.
